So, what does everybody think about this?

All the maps and vehicles from BF2, all the guns and classes from BC2, all in your basic play for free format (see BF Heroes, Crossfire, AVA, Code7, ect)

I think it could work given a few tweaks to the BC2 kits. I'm sure nobody wants to see anymore LMGs on Medics for 200 round sprayfests. I think if they get this right it could be very playable.

Other things they will need are basic clan support and maybe some sort of match making feature like in AVA. 1st person spec doesn't seem to be on Dice's "To-Do" list for any game so I'm not holding my breath for that, as much as it's needed.

Mod support I think will not even be considdered. This doesn't need to be a bad thing though. As with all free to play games in this model, EASY will be forced to continually take in feedback and patch the game based on that feedback. If they do show support for competative play with the likes of match setups and clan support, It's a fair bet they'll be willing to listen to us if we rally together and all pull in the same direction.

I don't think the engine really matters in the long run. If the support and the features are there people will continue to play regardless of how bad the engine is, just look at BF2 :P

Battlefield Play4Free Closed Beta - DICE DID NOT MAKE THIS GAME.
Confirmed by Bazajaytee

From the videos/pictures, we can see:

Weapons

* M249 SAW
* M16A2 - grenade launcher (maybe smoke and shotgun as well)
* M9 pistol
* UMP 45
* Claymore
* RPG (unsure what type)
* Tracer Dart

Vehicles

* M1 Abrams
* LAV-25 APC
* UH-60 Blackhawk
* F-35 JSF
* BTR-90
* T-90 MBT
* GAZ 39371 Vodnik
* MI-28 Havoc
* TOW

Classes

* Medic - LMG, pistol, tracer dart, med pack, grenade.
* Recon
* Assault - AR, pistol, tracer dart, grenade
* Engineer

Notes:

* Grenades appear to be wieldable
* Knives are not shown on the equipment screen, so probably BC2 style over BF2
* Due to having slots, it seems that we may be able to have a pistol and tracer pistol at the same time.
* 32 player maps
* 30th of November the Beta is out.

I'm really looking forward to it.

It's pretty much EA taking the BF2 enginge off DICE and giving it to this new company to rebuild it as they like. I can't see how this will be a bad thing. Major issues and bugs will be ironed out with it being P4F. It won't be like BF2 where they got the money from you buying the game in the 1st place and therefore don't care. This company has their income reliant on getting and keeping as many people playing as possible.

Only worry I have is about the classes. I'd rather not have another game of Medic LMG sprayfests.

same worry as me really piggy, i just hope its a good game that we can enjoy... might be good to scrim too but i doubt any major tournaments will spring up for it unless it has a decent anti cheat.
