New Battlefield 3 Screen-shots

fpbattlefield3-banner
Well here we go some more scans of whats to be this years biggest game Battlefield 3. Thanks to our friends over at bf-games.net, German editor Fabian Siegismund also played the demo level but describes it in another way and gives more detail to the destruction. Here is an example: when the huge building collapses during the earthquake it buries and destroys a Blackhawk helicopter. Patrick Bach says that debris can hurt characters. Important here: we are talking about the singleplayer. Not tested or confirmed for the multiplayer.

Talking about the multiplayer the text contains a short summary about the multiplayer aspects editor Siegismund was able to see. I’ll give you that aspects in form of a list. Most important fact but most likely a typo or mistake: 32 players for the console.

  • At a screen there were four classes with five slots for equipment. No further word about the details of the equipment is given
  • Siegismund says that he has seen a F-16 and a Su-27 Jet. Important here: there is a render / picture at the article that shows a F-18 Super Hornet and not a F-16. Don’t know if this means the existence of both jets or a typo.
  • Siegesmund talks about a “Replay-Function which was also included in Battlefield 2”. In our opinion he is talking about the Battlerecorder (as a function to replay whole games). His statement concerning this function: “DICE is playing around with a feasible version for BF3”. The function is not confirmed.
  • Sound: DICE is working with a revised system for the sound that enables players to detect from where a vehicle or enemy soldier is coming. Every object (aka tank, helicopter) has up to 80 soundchannels with different sounds from different angles.
  • Singleplayer: there will be Quicktime-Events where you have to push the mouse buttons to win a fight. The example here: an enemy tries to stab you with a knife and you have to defend you (knock him down / kill him).

THQ: Going down the drain

fpcohthq-banner
Well THQ and relic games have posted that they will be scrapping a few of the p4f games this year.

One of them is Company of heroes online(COHO).

Just been reading up on it and the question that was asked by the thousands of COHO beta testers (including myself) was "Why".

Team Rush @Insomnia 40

fpnewsi40 took place from Friday 27th August to Monday 30th August, 2010 and offers 1500 BYOC/BYOX spaces plus the World Cyber Games and sees it again at Newbury Racecourse, arguably the spiritual home of LAN gaming in the UK.

The i-Series is the UK's largest LAN gaming event and one of the fastest growing industry exhibitions in Europe. Featuring anywhere up to 2,000 gamers bringing their home PC/Console to play games all weekend and scores more who enjoy coming for the social aspect of the event, the i-Series keeps growing in scale.

No Battlefield 2 this year so Team Rush were there playing Battlefield Bad Company 2, this is the 1st time this game has been played at a lan event in the uk. With the final being streamed live.

Both teams had a rather easy route to the final, with many of the group fixtures and playoffs ending in very comfortable wins for both teams. The Dignitas players will be hoping to overturn the defeat inflicted on them yesterday by the Team Rush lineup, having succumbed to the same fate at i39 to a similar line-up.

Battlefield 3 Talk Scheduled for GDC

BattlefieldBanner

At this year's Game Developer Conference (February 28th - March 4th) DICE will be holding a talk titled "Lighting You Up in BATTLEFIELD 3". These lectures are only open to developers, but usually presentation material is posted to the public after the conference. Thanks repi.

Interesting that the actual title of the lecture includes "Battlefield 3", which is not 'officially' announced. If DICE wanted to conceal it, they could have just left it at "Frostbite 2 engine". Wonder if this is a sign that we might see something before GDC.

Battlefield 3 Will Get Extra PC Attention

BattlefieldBannerIt is fairly well known by now that DICE has been working on Battlefield 3 since at least last year. We haven't heard much about the officially unannounced title, and while this isn't really news I'm sure a DICE employee merely saying 'Battlefield' and '3' in the same sentence should excite most.

A couple weeks ago DICE Senior Gameplay Designer, Alan 'Demize99' Kertz tweeted that him as well as other Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 2 veterans are working on Battlefield 3.

Aside from that, Mr. Kertz also made a post in the EA UK forums explaining how weapons were tweaked on console and PC in Bad Company 2. He talks about how PC needs special attention and intends to give Battlefield 3 just that. There is still hope for us PC players.
